Review of Point Break (2015) by Anna B — 04 Oct 2011
Probably her best work here. It loses a lot of its edge in the third act, but the first two are really strong, with really amazing energy, especially in the FBI establishing scenes (the editing screamed "Edgar Wright!" I don't even want to know how many times he's seen this movie.
) Fantastic chase scenes, on both car and foot, really some of the best action directing I've seen in a while, and even Swayze is good for most of the time. Problems include the utterly ludicrous plot logic (par for the course, but still had me rolling my eyes), the mentioned limp in the tail-end, some clumsy cutting and a dollop of early-'90s cheese.
Good fun though. Real good fun. Kinda weird to see Bells Beach, too; I used to live down the road from Torquay, so seeing all that was kinda bizarre, although I suppose not very surprising in a surfing movie.
