Review of Point Break (1991) by Pradyut V — 16 Jan 2010
Point Break is a rare movie that is both candy for the senses, and sauce for the spirit. It's ironic that critics are so insecure they can't look past the kitsch to reveal the soul of this movie.
Shallow reviews beget shallow labels. But then why does a B movie from 1991 endure almost 20 years later? If you permit yourself a momentary suspension of disbelief, you find yourself in a movie with two faces.
It's both a fast paced fun, funny, and suspenseful thrill ride. But it's also a look into life values beyond the "rat race". Keanu Reeves becomes the unlikely pupil to a spiritual Swayze.
Great stuff.
