Review of Point Blank (1967) by Nicola B — 05 Sep 2007
In my opinion John Boorman's best film, with Deliverance and Hell in the Pacific coming next. Creative use of direction and camera angle and lens type, make for fantastic composed visuals. Lee Marvin, John Vernon play there roles with a style that is perfectly suited to this type of 70's gritty revenge thriller.
Johnny Mandel provides a suitable soundtrack that is very haunting and creepy in places. Had I not been on my break in the staff room of the cinema I used to work in? I would have missed this cult classic.
