Review of Please Give (2010) by Andrew P — 25 Jun 2010
I was really looking forward to this movie since I love all of the movies that Nichole Holofcener's has directed - "Walking and Talking", "Lovely & Amazing" and "Friends With Money".
Her movies are small, independent films and she only does one every so often - this is on the 4th movie she has directed in 14 years - that it is a treat when she finally makes a new one. He movies are character based and always have a lot of good dialogues.
Catherine Keener is a staple in all 4 movies and shines here as usual and has great banter with Oliver Platt as her husband. Sarah Steele is very realistic as their teenage daughter going through life changes and Amanda Peet and Rebecca Hall (great in last years Vicky Christina Barcelona) are wonderful as sisters who are very opposite of each other but still find a way to care about each other.
You will have to look for this movie at theater - not playing very many places.
