A New York couple Kate and Alex run a business selling on dead peoples kitch furniture for huge profits.
They have also arranged to buy their eldery neighbours appartment, so they can knock through and extend their own home.
As their lives move the meet their neighbours grand-daughters, one of which Alex(Oliver Platt) has an affair, and as Kate(Catherine Keener) gets to know the other, she gets pangs of guilt. Mainly about how they are living on profits from the dead and their relatives.
Only the whole it is quirky and funny, although as good as Catherine Keener acts her character is someone you just want to kick, and the daughter is no better.
