Like a Woody Allen movie without the jokes, PG is one of those 'gentle' comedies that rely more on character eccentricity than belly laughs. There are moments of depth but it suffers from being too tolerant of its female protagonists and their wacky ways and resolutely refuses to satirise its dysfunctional characters too savagely.
However, the performances are drily convincing and there are a few chortles along the way. As chick flicks go, this generational dramedy is an unassuming but worthwhile watch.
