Review of Please Give (2010) by Ata A — 07 Dec 2010
Fine acting and performances. It was a little uncomfortable to watch (but my cat just died, so subject matter of death was hard) given all of the difficult themes..white liberal guilt, aging process for women, beauty, and taking care of the elderly.
Nicole Holofcener's a great director and all of her movies are unsettling...it's more female focused, but honest. Amanda Peet proves that she's a good actress (although her character was very icy) and I enjoyed Catherine Keener, as always, and Rebecca Hall.
The grandmother was good, even though she was quite mean.
