Review of Please Give (2010) by Roshan S — 02 Feb 2011
At the heart of it Please Give is really a movie about generosity and greed and guilt. Ostensibly though, the movie focuses on the temporarily intersecting lives of a couple living in a New York City apartment with their teenage daughter and their elderly neighbor Andra and her two granddaughters -- one cynical and the other giving.
Watch it only if you like realistic slice of life movies with a subtle moral at the end. Good performances by Rebecca Hall, Catherine Keener, Amanda Peet, and Oliver Platt. Outstanding performance by Ann Morgan Guilbert as the crochety grandma.
