Review of Please Give (2010) by Pat M — 20 Feb 2011
This is a movie about a couple who make their living off of buying furniture from the relatives of dead home dwellers trying to figure out how to unload all their relative's crap and go on with their life.
Oh, there are also waiting for a 90-year-old woman to die so they can expand their apartment. The movie focuses on how the main characters deal with their own mortality (and profiting from the dead). Catherine Keener's character hands out money to the poor.
Husband Oliver Platt has an affair with the granddaughter of the old woman, Amanda Peet (who plans to stave off death by having the best tan). I am going against the professional critics here, but I can think of many ways I would rather spend my day than watching people ponder their own mortality.
