Review of Pleasantville (1998) by Jared S — 13 Feb 2012
I was a teenager when I was first enchanted by this fable regarding two modern youths who get sucked into the world of an idealized 1950's sitcom. This film has themes of conformity, sexuality, adolescent growth, and intellectual expansion that speak with resounding volume to me.
It also helps that the cinematography is so breathtaking and that the acting is so excellent. It all comes together to make Pleasantville one of my all-time favorite movies.
