Review of Pleasantville (1998) by Brandon W — 26 Jan 2010
I rewatched this movie on FX and was captivated by how beautiful it was. The use of black and white versus colors as a metaphor is so brilliant, paralleling so many aspects of what we as a people have done over the past century since the advent of television.
Who knew that a movie about a television show with an idyllic suburbia could be a social commentary of race, society, the family lifestyle, censorship, fascism, etc?
