After watching it again, I realize you begin to take the underlying themes to heart. Even though life was portrayed on TV in the 50's as this perfect life, life was far from it. Maybe they portrayed it that way cause they wanted life to be that way.

But change is something you can't stop, so you're either gonna pout about it and stay the same or accept it and move on. The film also can make us reflect on America's troubled past in the 60's with segregation and racism and how that may not have been the answer.

While the movie starts out to be this corny film to make fun of 50's TV, it truly becomes poignant and fascinating by the end.
