Review of Pleasantville (1998) by Guy W — 23 Mar 2012
Genius is the only word for this film. Craft and detail are others. A film that tackles the issue of race with technicolour and B/W is just something to be admired. The genius of the film is tackling the issue of the apartheid of 50's america with the the new emergence of colour in a 50's television show.
This film has a wonderful orchestrastion of drama, fantasty and comedy, its a once in a lifetime film. The humour and production values meld together to produce a surprise for anyone who loves what cinema can achieve when imagination and beautiful writing come together.
