In this review I will be talking about Pleasantville the movie and the old story Adam and eve. The movie Pleasantville is like Adam and eve in a new view of the story. Good news there is no snake in Pleasantville but there is in Adam and eve. In both stories they do have a boy and a girl that cause trouble. Plus I will put in my own opinion in the two stories.

The story Adam and eve is a story about following rules and obeying people in power. In Pleasantville it is a story on disobeying the rules not following people in power and that is a good thing. The boy and the girl in Pleasantville are like yen and yang to get color you must rebel on who you were told to be in live. In the story Adam and eve one interpretation of this story is on how the girl did all the bad things and the man was the innocent person that trusted someone.

There are a lot of similarities too, in the stories that are really hard to see. Like the snake in Adam and eve the snake knew what would happen to eve and Adam if they ate the apple but if you think of marry sue as the snake. It is very interesting when you think that way on how she tempted everyone to break the rules and do something different. Bud was like Adam wanting to follow the rules and be good, helpful, and nice. His character only changed when he did something bad to save someone the complete opposite of who he was supposed to be.

The messages in the stories are not the same as in Adam and eve the message is don’t break the rules. In the movie Pleasantville the message was breaking the rules is sometimes a good thing to do. Plus the ending was different as Adam and eve were banish to earth, marry sue and bud had it ok as marry sue went to go get an education and bud went home. In the old story thing happened very fast one moment they were in the Garden of Eden then POOF on earth working hard to live and not happy. In the movie things happened very slowly as there was a fight and a vote, disagreements on all sides, unfairness.

In my opinion I like the movie the message to me was awesome and it was very entertaining. I like the different symbols that were waved into the story. It puts a fresh idea on a old story, I like the main characters a lot. The movie talks about what happens in history and how people were races.
