Review of Playing It Cool (2014) by Peter B — 08 Sep 2015
Chris Evans tries his hand at a cute romantic comedy as a writer who has never had a serious relationship, meets a girl (Michelle Monaghan) that turns his world upside down. He starts out with a writing assignment from his agent to do a script that is a romantic comedy.
He doesn't believe in love so he is stumped. He talks to his friend Scott (Topher Grace) who is a hard core romantic about what he should do about this script. When they go to a fund raiser Chris meets the woman of his dreams but she is in a relationship with another man.
He never got her name. Over the next few days, he goes to several charity events in hopes of running into her. He wants to see her. Once they find each other, they agree to be friends until the sexual attraction has them in bed together.
She feels that she made a mistake, decides to get engaged to the boyfriend, and Chris decides he loves her and wants to stop her from marrying this guy. And...he finishes his romantic comedy. Cute, but not believable.
