Review of Playing for Keeps (2012) by Dan C — 08 Mar 2013
Playing for Keeps is a lame attempt at trying to be charming and funny. The actors were surprisingly ineffective at their roles and in some cases, just downright scary.
Despite having Gerard, Jessica, Uma, Dennis, and Katherine, the writing was way to cheesy and not at all realistic. Even as romantic comedies go. I don't generally believe that all stories must have happy endings, but this one was ridiculous. Most sane women would have shut the door on Gerard after what he pulled.
He plays a former professional soccer player who coaches his son's team. Every soccer mom begins to flirt with him and then they all act completely nuts and desperate to "have relations" with him.
There are a few charming moments and that is the only salvageable aspect of this otherwise forgettable film.
