Review of Playing by Heart (1998) by Igor B — 21 Aug 2008
Almost a perfect story about 11 people dealing with their relationships. Yep, they'll meet altogher in the end and yep, there will be a happy-end. And since the cast is full of super-stars, no surprise here either.
So, why to give this movie 4 stars if it is so predictable and I am even not a middle-aged woman crying all through it? Just for two things. The first one - atmosphere. The movie has a really unique one, as if it were not a hollywood blockbuster, but some indie european production, which makes it quite attractive even for men.
And the second one - the acting. Gosh, it's great! You realize in a second, why Sean Connery was selected to be first James Bond, why John Stewart makes the Daily show and why Gillian Anderson played cold Scully in X-files.
And surprise - Angelina Jolie do can play. Rush to see it :).
