Review of Play Misty for Me (1971) by Sanity Assassin ! — 06 Sep 2009
Not a bad directorial debut for our Clint who went on to greater things (Mystic River, The Changling). Jessica Walters is the Queen of the Bunny Boilers in a career-defining role that makes Glenn Close's turn in Fatal Attraction look like a pale, pale imitation.
The tension is kept right up to the literally knock out ending. This film can still hold its own against other psychological thrillers even after nearly 40 years.
