Review of Play It to the Bone (1999) by Spar154 — 09 May 2021
Surprisingly good.
I wouldn't have thought that I'd enjoy a boxing movie, but this was actually enjoyable and viewable all the way through -- without ever becoming outstanding.
Harrelson and Banderas play off each other well as best friends who are thrown into a Mike Tyson undercard, and the interplay with the communal love interest Grace [Davidovich] really developed the characters in a short space of time.
Sizemore and Wagner make cameos as the promoter and financier of the fight, and an array of famous people make appearances as ringside guests at the big fight.
Possibly the best performance was from the ever excellent Lucy Liu, in a role that was a fantastic parody of itself. Good fun.
