Review of Play It Again, Sam (1972) by Jaime D — 19 May 2009
I watched this again just recently and was not completely impressed... I guess the unavoidable issue watching it now is that it suffers so badly in comparison to the other great movies Keaton and Allen made together, Annie Hall, Manhatten and even Manhatten Murder Mystery.
.. This movie which was originaly a stage play has some of Allen usuall great gags and dialogue and the seed of something that would grow to become Annie Hall but the direction here is static and sloppy.
