Review of Play It Again, Sam (1972) by Jay A — 05 Feb 2012
It's worth noting that although Allen wrote and starred in this he didn't direct so it's not canon in the sense of much of his work. It took me a while to come around to it too, it felt like too much emphasis was being placed on how pathetic Allan is, normally Woody Allen can convey without laying it on too thick.
Despite that Play It Again, Sam has it's heart in the right place and I liked the way it playfully pays homage to Casablanca.
