Review of Platoon (1986) by Pearse W — 23 Dec 2010
Charlie Sheen once adored hookers. He also once made a decent film. The two are unrelated. You see I recently bought a fine example of eye heroine, in that you can't get enough of it, then it becomes something of an obsession and soon you're in the toilets of a Burger King injecting it between your toes trying not.
........... sorry, I somehow trailed off. I recently purchased "Platoon" to indulge my passion for sweaty grown men being blown..................to bits! Where the title of the film came from I've no idea.
The plot centres on young Charlie "spank me with a tin of peas" Sheen who enlisted in the Vietnam war, in Vietnam of all places. He sees the horrors of war and pisses himself blah blah blah! The best thing about this film is old scarface, Tom Berenger, who has a big scar on his face.
Willem Dafoe is the commanding officer who takes Charlie under his wing (hasn't actually got wings) and who, ultimately, tries to show him the best the world has to offer. The dangerously insane Oliver Stone directs the rest of the cast which is made up of a whole host of famous faces and folks who you know you've seen in some shitty film about AIDS or something, Johnny Depp, Keith David (he's black), Forest Whitaker (so is he) and John C.
McGinley before he spawned a retard. To top it off Barber's "Adagio for Strings" accompanies the film quite well. That's not a food choice. Watch this and you'll buy nothing but cheaply made inferior goods from Vietnam forever.
