Review of Platoon (1986) by Pravin A — 24 Jan 2011
Youalmost want to puke after seeing it, not because it was terrible (because it was far from), but for the horrible things you witness. Oliver Stone, who served in Vietnam, brings us a picture that shows a part of the Vietnam War, which reveals bigotry and injustice broght on by a minority of wayward soldiers.
The movie is like any antiwar movie, and succeeds the same way that "Deer Hunter", "Full Metal Jacket", and "Apocalypse Now" did by not glorifying the things that happened.
This film showed us some bitter scenes with extreme prejudice. It's a film so good and so remarkable that you can't help but sigh after taking its ride.
