Review of Platoon (1986) by Raji K — 07 Mar 2015
Platoon is a Vietnam film that covers Chris Taylor (Charlie Sheen) and his platoon. The film shows his progression from a green solider, to a seasoned veteran, to a eventual chaos and darkness. The film does not try and sugar coat any aspect of the war from, betrayal, genocide, and all violent aspects of war in between.
The movie really focuses on the battle field aspect of the war, and is a different from Deer Hunter, or Full Metal Jacket before it. Stone's gritty dark tragedy on the war is great for what it is, and is a window of insight on one of the darkest times and wars in American History.
