Review of Platoon (1986) by Grant H — 16 Jul 2015
Incredible film. Platoon sets itself apart from other films like Full Metal Jacket and We Were Soldiers by having a grounded storyline, and realistic portrayal of the Vietnam War and its soldiers' struggles endured both in battle and surrounding it.
In addition to the fantastic storyline, the film also incredibly depicts the brutality of combat with stunning visual effects, excellent cinematography, perfect direction, and outstanding performances from its cast, especially Sheen, Dafoe and Berenger.
