Review of Planet Terror (2007) by Karen F — 06 Jul 2010
I dont really know what to say about Planet Terror! lol it was ridiculous, bloody, and down right wrong! It was pretty much a huge laugh fest filled with over the top style gore, language, action. It had such tongue in cheek drama that you cant help but laugh through the whole damn thing.
I liked Quentin Tarantino's gross ass part lol. truly disgusting flick! While hailing as an exploitation flick, it also plays well as a grueling zombie flick. It is actually way better than that crappy '30 Days of Night' flick.
god I hate that movie! anyways, PT isn't much more than a guns, guts, and gore extravaganza, but the unique, gritty camera filming made it feel like some retro 70's, acid zombie nightmare! I was shocked that I didn't see Rob Zombie crawl out of some hole somewhere! Overall I liked it because it was way entertaining.
Don't expect any extravagant plot or acting though. Funny, bold characters and cool directing style with a mix of Bruce Willis turning into a flubby alien, zombie, beast plus the sweeeeet fake trailer for 'Machete' makes Planet Terror an artful yet brain-numbing pile of crap that is probably better watched while under the influence (preferably something strong!!) 3.
5 starz = Epic Cheese!
