Review of Planet Terror (2007) by Melinda C — 22 Sep 2010
Planet terror is a zombie apocolypse gore fest comedy from 'Grindhouse' that captures the stylings of low budget 80's video nasties with modern special effects. Notible stars are Bruce Willis (Die hard) Jeff Fahey (Lawnmower Man) Michael beihn (Terminator) Rose Mcgowan and Quentin Tarrantino.
Watching this movie I thought 'Damn I bet Tarrantino would love this wacky over the top shit'. Lo and behold Tarrantino has a cameo as a raping zombie soldier. It really wouldn't matter who the cast were, the film is so stylized with one liners and set pieces.
Everything is over emphisised. The sqibs that go off when someone is shot would fill a bath, the explosions are massive, and the action is comic book athletic. The retro music score is fantastic and edgy.
If you liked 'Dusk Till Dawn' then you will like this. There aren't very many 'good' zombie movies about, but this is one of them.
