Review of Planet Terror (2007) by Nick M — 19 Jun 2011
Planet Terror was unlike anything I have ever seen before, or for that matter any zombie movie i've ever seen. This movie is like Robert Rodriguez's version of a zombie movie. Except there is a lot more to this movie than just zombies and shooting zombies like they're a cattle of meat.
The difference between this film & normal zombie flicks is that it's filmed like it was made in the 50s or 60s (& it was originally a double feature with Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof), it's filled with a bunch of sexy chicks, it's practically drowning in fake blood.
And if I may say so it's a pretty badass film. Now I haven't seen "Quentin Tarantino's Death Proof" yet, but knowing that when they both came out in theaters they were both put into a double feature with each other.
Which I think is pretty cool. Anyways, my point is that it's delightful to watch Rose McGowan with a machine gun leg in the last 30 minutes of the movie & watching her shoot the ever living crap out of the zombies in the film.
& it is also very enjoyable to watch the fake trailer for Machete (which is actually a movie made by him now), that Rodriguez made himself specially for the film. Even though Planet Terror may just be sex, blood, and guys balls in a bag (literally), it's a fucking fun ride!
