Review of Planet Terror (2007) by Mark G — 12 May 2012
A blood-splattered humorous addition to the zombie genre. Story involves a bio-weapon that is released that turns people into flesh-eating zombies, leaving the survivors to defend themselves against the infected.
Part of the Tarantino/Rodriquez tribute to blood-soaked, sex-fueled exploitation double features of the "grindhouse" circuit. I enjoyed this film for its humor and excess. The scene where the hero is riding down the highway on a mini-bike shooting zombies is hilarious.
Smudged, grainy images, truncated editing, and burn marks give the film a well-worn look. This sleaze fest tribute to Z-movies comes with all the trimmings: cheesy characters, tacky dialogue and unbelievable situations.
