Review of Planet Hulk (2010) by Adelwyn H — 03 Feb 2010
If you've read the comic version of Planet Hulk you know there's no way in hell the gang at Marvel Studios would be able to successfully pull off a feature-length animated adaptation. At least not in under 3 hours.
The story is every bit as epic and monstrous as its protagonist and the most you can really hope for is a few scenes of ass-kicking fun. Fortunately you get just that with Planet Hulk, which tries to stay faithful to the original story but seems to realize about halfway through that it bit off more than it could possibly chew, then proceeds to try fitting 35 lbs into a 10-lb bag plotwise.
This isn't to say Planet Hulk c o m p l e t e l y failed however. The fights are a total blast and I'll just say that not all of the differences from page to screen suck (namely with who replaces The Silver Surfer onscreen.
) I wouldn't say this one's too kid-friendly and there was no hint of it's comic sequel, World War Hulk, in sight.
