Review of Planet Hulk (2010) by Z M — 25 Feb 2010
Lionsgate films has done a fantastic job with its Marvel comics direct to dvd films. Planet Hulk adapts portions of the year long epic that ran in the Hulk comics a few years ago and does it well. These direct to dvd flicks never have Disney level animation but the animation is crisp and stylized.
You do not need to know much going into the film at all. A still dumb Hulk is sent to a distant planet where he won't do harm to humanity but he must evolve and adapt to survive on a planet that is riddled with threats that can take even the Hulk down.
It is this evolution of character that really drives this film mixing super heroes with Gladiator style story telling. Don't worry though, there is plenty HULK SMASH!
