Review of Planet 51 (2009) by Michael E — 20 Dec 2010
Another case of style over substance. The CGI looks great the whole film and the general idea is an interesting one. The nods and references to other films were amusing but only that at best. The voice cast fits perfectly for the characters as well.
It's flaws: It has a good message that gets drowned out in all the action, it's highly predictable from the start, not enough character development, too much jumping from one scene to the next and it's not particularly funny for kids or adults (something Pixar manages to do every single time).
It's a fine time-waster and decent for one watch but otherwise entirely forgettable.
