Review of Planet 51 (2009) by Steve M — 15 Jul 2010
In terms of animated features, this was pretty enjoyable. Nice message for the kiddies, but enough laughs for the grown-ups to be able to handle watching it without suffering brain pains. That's a perfect combo. Also quite a funny satire of 1950s Earth and it's fixation on alien invaders...from a totally different perspective. The Rock is pretty good here voicing Chuck Baker, the "Alien Invader" from Earth...as are all the others, especially Gary Oldman as...yes, the bad guy, and Stiffler as the wacky friend (what a stretch here)...and Justin Long as the guy with girl troubles (again what a reach for him).
That being said, it's a good one for the kids and the adults.
