Review of Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987) by Stephen J — 28 Dec 2015
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles tells the story of a marketing executive (Steve Martin) and a shower ring salesman (John Candy), who through a series of unfortunate events are partnered together in a journey to get home on time for Thanksgiving.
Initially, the comedy of errors is amusing enough to maintain attention, but eventually the antics become a bit exhausting. The surprising sentimental conclusion is worth the wait, making Planes, Trains, and Automobiles a feel good holiday flick.
Ultimately, the movie is carried by Martin and Candy's talented acting and on screen chemistry. Replace Martin and Candy and it is an unforgettable moment of cinematic history.
