Review of Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987) by Rodney E — 03 Jan 2013
I like this movie as it is well written, has its moments, interesting supporting characters, and the chemistry between Candy and Martin is great. What prevents me from thinking this is a classic is the soundtrack and the score sometimes.
The scene where John Candy defends himself as a human being against Steve Martin is perfect and demonstrates how tender and endearing Candy really was. John Hughes is really all Chicago has in terms of auteurs from the last 30 years and his voice has been missing since the early-mid 90's.
