Review of Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987) by Caleb B — 09 Feb 2010
This is one of the most funny, yet heartwarming films I have ever experienced. Steve Martin and John Candy makes their characters believable, funny and real. Steve Martin plays Neil Page, a husband and a hard working father tries to get home in time for Thanksgiving, but as he progresses, things tend to get in his way and one of them is a shower curtain ring salesman named Del Griffith (John Candy).
John Hughes really delivers with all the comedy, the drama, and the holiday cheer with this one, and it proves that this film has the perfect formula for the perfect comedy. Now, this isn't a family film, but it's funny enough for adults who needs a good laugh and a good realization on life itself (hence the drama scenes and dialogue). This is a perfect holiday film.
