Review of Planes, Trains and Automobiles (1987) by Julie L — 20 Nov 2010
A Thanksgiving time must, "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" still today is one of the most classic comedic pairings in film history. Steve Martin and the late, great John Candy are a riot as a pair of folks trying to make it back to Chicago in time for Thanksgiving.
Martin, the up-tight businessman, plays off Candy's terribly annoying but lovable salesman perfectly. I do feel that, at times, the movie wasn't terribly funny, but when things got crazy, this film was a gut-buster.
This is a must for fans of classic comedy. Overall, "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles" highlights the comedic talent of its two leads.
