Irritating prick, I know people see me as one. Slovenly widower, I don't want to become. Miraculously, this movie makes one of each of these types somewhat sympathetic.

I've felt progressively less stupid every time I've seen it, because I originally thought Neal was the real antihero; Del really did seem like a jackass to me. Everyone has spoken positively about my desire to get independent, and Del was mooching off Neal as it looked to me.
