From the creators of Cars comes a parallel universe: Planes. A young crop duster named Dusty, voiced by Dane Cook, dreams of being a racing plane. He spends most of his time flying low over the fields, spraying the crops, but his mind is far from his reality. Dreaming of being up in the clouds, he loses himself in a day dream far from where he is. He knows he is not made to race with a modest motor and a heavy load, but this does not keep him from his dreams. Dusty goes to the try outs for the around-the-world areal race. He qualifies for the race, but he is far from winning the race. Can dusty over come his extreme fear of heights? Can he learn what it means to be a real racer? Is he even capable of making it past the first length of the race?

I was very excited to see a parallel universe to cars being made. Cars has been one of my favorite animated films of all times, and to see a parallel universe made me a little excited. The story line was cheesy and lovable. A predictable underdog tale for sure, but it was visually stimulating. I appreciated the humor and beautiful attempt at making an old story new.

The characters were slightly redundant as the skipper reminded the viewer strangely of Doc. The romance resembled that of Lightning's and Sally's. Not to mention, Chug resembled mater.

The movie was cute and enjoyable. I could purely watch it for the entertainment aspect with no need to think. Knowing this movie was geared for Kids I say it is HOT. Kids will love it. It teaches great morals,.

Shows the consequences of actions, and just is fun and cute.

As a reviewer, I wish I had seen a connection with the world of Cars more. Maybe have lightning make an appearance or something. I would really like to see the cross over happen. Watching the movie, I was really hoping for a sequel to make that cross over, but Planes 2: Fire and Rescue is set to release in 2014. Not looking forward to this sequel knowing my hopes for the cross over seem dashed. From a reviewer stand point this movie could use a lot of work with original story and characters as well as utilizing everything in crossover as they can.
