Review of Planes (2012) by Leon B — 07 Dec 2013
Review:
I really didn't enjoy this movie. I was never a big fan of cars, so I wasn't expecting that much from this film. The whole talking planes thing was pretty awful and the storyline was weak, even for kids. The characters were more annoying than funny, and the writers could have done a better job. The animation wasn't bad, but I did expect better with all of the competition out there. It's a bit of a hard movie to comment on, because it is made for kids so your not going to be getting adult humour, and now that Pixar have been teamed up with Disney, you are not going to be getting the innuendo's like in previous Pixar movies. I personally couldn't watch this movie by myself again because I lost interest very early in the film. I would have to watch it with kids, mainly just to keep them quite, but I was hoping for something for all of the family. Disappointing!
Round-Up:
Pixar have gone really down hill since they have teamed up with Disney, but there films always make money so there is no reason for them to change there style. I prefer there earlier movies because they were trying to break through into the main stream by themselves so they went all out with the storyline and the animation, but now they seem to have forgotten that adults like animation as well. Cars 1 and 2 were pretty appalling in my opinion, and this film just seemed like Cars 3, which isn't saying any much. I really do expect better from Pixar, but judging by there recent movies, they have gone down in my estimation.
Budget: $50million.
Worldwide Gross: $220million.
I recommend this movie to people who were into the Cars franchise, and like there zero to hero type of animation movies. 2/10.
