Review of PK (2014) by Nipun A — 22 Dec 2014
A pretty good idea catering to a huge Indian audience, boasting of great acting although not as subtle is the best you can expect from India. The worst part is although everyone likes to call it a satire, the jokes are so plainly and bluntly put out there it feels almost like an animated film for kids. Why is it that Indian directors think that Indians are so stupid, with obvious comical music for the comedy and those incredibly romantic songs for the romantic scenes. If directors could give the audience a chance to think and connect with the characters without putting everything so bluntly on screen, I believe popular Indian cinema would take its first step to reaching the next level of film making.
If directors could bring good ideas such as these to the table and direct it with a bit more panache, we would see a rise in Indian film making.
