Review of Pixels (2015) by Bradley W — 21 Nov 2015
Pixels is a disappointment for me because this was a great idea that is squandered by lazy writing and unfunny jokes. Christopher Columbus has done some great movies in the past, but in recent years his work has begun to deteriorate.
This is no exception, as Pixels is a lot of cool visuals and nothing more. Adam Sandler has once again shown why he is the joke of Hollywood. His movies are pathetic and have the same schtick used over and over.
This movie is another Sandler comedy disguised as a action movie with 80's video games. Kevin James is the victim of more fat and stupid jokes that make him feel more like a target than a comedian.
Michelle Monaghan is a love interest for Sandler and nothing more. Josh Gad is the eccentric weirdo who screams a lot. Finally Peter Dinklage is a talented actor who is completely wasted in this movie with a creepy character who is hard to like.
The writing is boring, the story is completely predictable and the romance is the most unbelievable thing I saw in this entire movie with video gane aliens taking over the world. However, the visuals were cool to see and some of the action scenes were entertaining.
But other than that, Pixels is another Adam Sandler failure that ruined a great premise.
