Review of Pixels (2010) by Mr Movie R — 25 Jan 2016
It's not as bad as most Adam Sandler's current sleepwalks in front of a camera but it is still not very good. Sandler is just reading lines and screaming like usual just looking even more bored than us watching the movie.
Kevin James isn't believable as a Presidential figure at all and nothing he does in this movie proves other wise (in what world would the secret service or congress allow the president to fight on the ground against life threatening aliens?).
Michelle Monaghan, Josh Gad, and Peter Dinklage are wasted with awful dialogue from an idea of a movie that could have been fun if the script wasn't such a token Adam Sandler "haha aren't women the worst?" terrible writing.
If they just focused on a vintage, fun, dumb, action/scifi movie we could have had a nice guilty pleasure but it really has the script to blame first and foremost. Chris Columbus is a director I really enjoy but he doesn't get good material to really sink his teeth into.
The visual effects are really cool and fun moments visually but overall, just a boring lame script that wants your admiration (*cough* money) but doesn't deserve it at all.
