Review of Pitch Perfect 3 (2017) by Mark B — 19 Jan 2018
Watching Pitch Perfect 3 is like seeing a loved one on their death bed- don't let it be the last image you have of this franchise.
The Pitch Perfect trilogy faced its ending like a speeding station wagon faces a concrete wall. What was once a game changer in a time of GLEE has become a self-effacing pile of gunk. The transparency of a weak concept and an even weaker script is almost cringe-worthy when one of the girls is given two pages of story to explain why she's not a bigger part of the film. Not to mention that plenty of written dialogue about how contrived plot points are- actually make it into the film.
The film also centers around a story line that would look more comfortable in a poor man's SNL movie. Not even a conman Australian Jon Lithgow will interest you. This film is not only hard to recommend, but makes someone who is such a fan of the first film want to drink hard, harder, hardest to forget the third.
Stay away.
