Review of Pitch Perfect 3 (2017) by Dakota H — 21 Jan 2018

To preface my review, I will say that no matter the series, it is hard to follow up a great movie, especially in its second sequel. I will also say that I did not thoroughly enjoy Pitch Perfect 2, either. However, Pitch Perfect 3 was downright pathetic and the classic beating of a dead horse.

To start, it uses the same jokes that were used in the past two movies. It also tries to overuse John Michael Higgins and Elizabeth Banks. Albeit funny in the first two, funny things can't stay funny forever. I was also not a fan of how they strayed from the original contest-based plot theme and move more towards an action flick. John Lithgrow's acting seemed forced and just overall does not perform well.

D.J. Khalid should stick to producing music and never again join the film industry. This addition to the film seemed only to increase the number of stars and not the overall quality. This movie, although having arguably one of the best tracks in the series, was a let down, and it was a good thing that this will be the last in the seemingly never ending series of acapella.
