(2012) Pitch Perfect.

MUSICAL DRAMA/ COMEDY.

If "Glee" was made into a movie, this is probably what it would look like. It's as if there aren't any bad singers throughout this entire film. Flashy, 'a capella' singing competition between a young group of guys and the underdogs which consists of a young group of teenage girls. Viewers know absolutely nothing about the opportunities regarding winning this competition, except for a cheap looking trophy and for bragging rights, as well the small possibility of becoming a backup singer for a famous musician. For the most part, there doesn't seem to be any money involved. The idea came from a book (I assume, from a kids book) written by Mickey Rapkin, starring Anna Kendrick as Beca who is a new student for this particular college where a radio station is nearby to get into mixed D-Jaying. Of course, her father at first disapproves, and by chance unknowingly enters a female 'a capella' group. It's sometimes silly and pretentious as the movie displays other singing competitions, as well as singing parties which is something I've never heard before, therefore making it totally unrealistic. It's almost as if this college high school had nothing but singing in it, and that the theme almost serves as a backdrop to many familiar tunes- all sung similar to the way people sing from 'Glee' the TV show.

2 out of 4 stars.
