Review of Pitch Perfect 2 (2015) by Cocopunk1486 — 13 Oct 2015
This sequel was such a big let down. Not nearly as good as the original. Unfortunately this has become another movie franchise they're going to milk until the actresses die or it becomes a box office flop. The first time I saw this in theaters I thought it was pretty good. But after a second viewing, you start to realize how poor the film is. I don't recommend this movie for fans of the original, or anyone else. There's a reason a capella isn't popular, and this movie shows us why.
The premise is so unoriginal, and predictable. I give Elizabeth Banks props especially since this is was her first movie as a director, but someone else should have taken on the project. The movie trailer takes the best moments, but the actual movie has next to nothing. So disappointed after watching this movie for a second time. The jokes are cheap, and in poor taste. Not as bad as recent SNL seasons, but still pretty bad. They must have had a sexually frustrated writer, or in other words a 13 year old writing the script.
The cameos are stupid, especially the Green Bay Packers. What producer went and said, "Hey I've got a great idea! Let's get some football players into the movie so the guys taking their dates to see this movie won't be so bored!" Seriously? And the treatment of the Worlds Final is stereotypical. DSM and Bella Flo in particular.
