Review of Pitch Perfect 2 (2015) by Nickhits D — 25 Jun 2016
Well my 1st anticipated movie of the year has finally arrived, and, although it is not Aca-Awesome, it is Aca-Enjoyable. A few of the characters overact this time, mainly Gail (Elizabeth Banks), Aubrey (Anna Camp), Jesse (Skylar Astin) and Bumper (Adam DeVine), they over do it a little and are just not the same characters as the 1st film.
Some of them underact, none in particular but a few of them just don't put much into their performances this time, and I feel really bad for Jessica (Kelley Jakle) and Ashley (Shelley Regner) as their characters are pretty much just there in the background, they literally have one line each, and it's that same line, and they say it at the same time, why they are even there is weird because they do pretty much nothing except backing vocals, from behind the other girls where you can't even see or hear them.
1 character changes, Becca (Anna Kendrick) is quite a Beotch in this one, although she does give it her all when she sings, her character is just a total opposite from the 1st film. And the music is a little underwhelming even though it is still enjoyable, it just didn't carry the same musical beat as last time.
However, the comedy is very good with a few laugh out loud moments. Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson) is pretty much the only one that was the same and even kicked it up a little. They story is pretty much the same except the Bellas are trying to win the World Championships this time as opposed to just competing with other schools, and they need to win to be reinstated from being suspended.
All of the actors and actresses have fantastic singing voices and would love to see another film, but I just don't know if it will happen. But, despite all the negativity I gave, this is still very watchable and I doubt anyone that liked that 1st one would not like this, even if it didn't hit the same musical notes, it is still great because the characters are likeable, and that always helps.
RECOMMENDED, flawed and all because WEEEEEEEEEEE Belong, We Belong together, you'll see what I mean when you watch it.
