Review of Pitch Black (2000) by Alysia V — 19 Oct 2009
Never will Vin Diesel be a top-notch actor but I did find this to be one of his better roles that I've seen him in. He was very well suited as Riddick. A fairly scary sci-fi that deals with something most of us can relate to, horror wise, which is being stranded somewhere in the "pitch black.
" The CGI "alien/monsters" weren't awesome but then again, you could never see them very well due to the dark enviroment which, in my opinion, was a good thing. You do sort of find yourself rooting for the 'bad guy' in this, which is a turn around.
Although when he is about to leave everyone behind in the ending I went back to my initial feeling of, "hey! this guy is a jerk!"..Couldn't believe he almost did that! I was pretty disappointed Radha Mitchell's character died right at the end--definitely didn't see that one coming.
I will say, this was better than I had expected..but then again, I didn't expect much.
