Watching Pitch Black is like watching a parody of the sci-fi genre. The characters are flat, uninteresting, and irritating. The special effects are all over the place, ranging from some pretty decent creature effects (for the time, especially) to laughable screen stretching and color filtering.
The plot could actually be interesting, even though I've started to shy away from space fiction, but I just can't get through it without better characters.
